Body Based Mindfulness Fundamentals Course

Self- Paced Syllabus

This course has 4 modules and each module consists of:

1. An educational presentation by Dr. Rosengren;

2. A recording of a live class where you are encouraged to follow along; 

3. Written information in a .pdf to add further depth to the material;

4. Guided exercises and specific “homework” for practicing new skills. 

Module 1: An Introduction to Key Concepts 

a) Mindfulness vs. Body Based Mindfulness

b) The importance of physical sensations

c) Tolerance and titration

d) The critical role of the Fight/Flight/Freeze Response

e) How the nervous system discharges or releases energy

Module 2: An Outline of the Body Based Mindfulness Process – Step by Step

a) Noticing and feeling physical sensations

b) Giving sensations time and space to exist

c) Mindset of open curiosity: What happens next? 

d) Following sensations as they shift, change, or remain static

e) How to work with Resistance

f) Processing Anger, Resentment, and Grief

Module 3: Working with Movements

a) The Essential role of Movements (micro-movements, internal movements, and external movements)

b) Understanding the Rhythm of the Nervous System

c) Processing and working with physical pain

Module 4: Working with Beliefs

a) Top down vs. Bottom up processing; the flow of information in the nervous system

b) Processing and working with beliefs

c) The Triune Brain

The Fundamentals Course is a prerequisite for the Beliefs Mentoring Course

The Fundamentals Course must be completed in order for the participant to build up tolerance and become comfortable in processing their physical sensations. The Fundamentals course is designed to be a 4 week course, but each student must gauge for themselves where he/she is in their ease and ability to tolerate sensations. For example, one student may need only 2 weeks to complete the Fundamentals course while others may need 4 weeks or longer. The next Beliefs Mentoring Course is scheduled to begin July 25th.

8 Week Beliefs Mentoring Course and Group

Syllabus

This course will include being in a dedicated Facebook group to allow for easier communication and accountability.

Outline of each class: Prior to each online class, participants will watch the weekly educational presentation prepared by Dr. Rosengren. At the beginning of each online class there will be a short Q&A session, a short group exercise and then end in a breakout session to allow participants to immediately practice what they have just learned and then meet again as a group for a short debriefing session. 

The next class begins July 25th and class will be held Thursdays from 6-8am MT and also from 6-8pm MT. You can attend either or both sessions.

Class 1: Triple AAA’s and BRT – This method details how to release negative beliefs via Body Based Mindfulness. It also includes scripts for walking step by step through this process. 

Class 2: Root Chakra Beliefs and Dealing with Resistance – In this class we dive deeper into working with resistance, and how resistance manifests physically, emotionally, and mentally, and dealing with manufactured emotions. 

Class 3 Sacral Chakra Beliefs and the “Circling Technique” – Introducing the Circling Technique for working on multiple aspects of a single belief or cluster of similar beliefs. 

Class 4 Solar Plexus Beliefs and Corrective Experiences – In this class we combine movement and imagination to harness the power of Corrective Experiences, providing an alternative pathway for releasing old, trapped energy. 

Class 5 Heart Chakra Beliefs and “Working Backwards” – This module introduces the Working Backwards technique, a powerful way to uncover opposing beliefs that interfere with the beliefs we desire to manifest in our lives.

Class 6 Throat Chakra Beliefs and “Working Backwards” – In this class we apply the full, multifaceted flexibility of the Working Backwards approach to hone in on and shift beliefs that hinder and limit the expression of our vital creative energies. 

Class 7 Third Eye Beliefs and the “Just World” – We explore and process “Just World” beliefs that shape our perceptions and the meanings we give to events; processing our beliefs around difficult life events when bad things happen to us or others we care about. 

Class 8 Crown Chakra and Posttraumatic Growth – In this final class we explore how the concept of Posttraumatic Growth can facilitate a deeper connection with our spiritual nature and heal beliefs that block our connection with divine energy.
